Warm-Blooded Britton

Finally ... a decent family picture to share! Britton has had a great day today. It is 10:30 p.m. and his body temperature is finally up to 98 degrees! He is no longer on warming blankets ... so now we just wait to see if he can stay steady at this temp. Other good news to report is:
* he is off the antibiotics
* he is off the dopamine (for blood pressure)
* his kidneys are working very well on their own
* his catheter has been removed & he is wearing little bitty diapers
* he has had no more mini seizures

The next two days are status quo days -- just seeing if everything can remain stable (temp, blood pressure, kidneys, platelets, oxygen saturation, etc.). Then, on Tuesday, he is scheduled for an EEG & a CAT scan. We are anxious for the results of these tests.

We were by Britton's bedside when the doctor rounded today, and he told us that Britton's progress so far has been "fantastic." We want to make clear that his status is not fantastic, but the strides his little body has made so far are. We are so grateful for this! His doctor made the comment that because he's recovered well so far from the birth trauma that it is possible he will overcome any neurological damage he may have sustained. We are praying hard for this.

At our last visit tonight, he was turned over on his tummy, and his little toushee was sticking up in the air. It was great to see this side of him! Here are a few pictures:

The newborn diapers are so big!

We can't wait to get a good look at his face (w/o all the wires). We loved getting to rub his sweet back tonight.

What an amazing God we have. I believe He may well be using little Britton to work miracles in the lives of the hospital staff. I pray this will happen. I also continue in my prayers for all three of you.

Everyone looks great and I'm so glad to hear such wonderful news! I want to thank both of you for updating this blog so frequently. I know that those of us who are not able to be in Birmingham right now appreciate the ability to check this blog at any hour for updates on Britton. I just received a very encouraging email from Sarah. She said that Britton looked much bigger in person than on the pics! And even cuter!

My heart is warmed this morning hearing that he's doing so well. I wish all three of you and amazing day.

Love, hugs and little baby kisses on Britton's head,

Elizabeth

I am so proud to here you sweet little man is continuing to amaze everyone. He really is a beautiful boy. I love the blue hat, and nothing is sweeter than those tiny little bottoms perched in the air as they sleep. The two of you look great as well. I pray that he continues to amaze with each passing day. Our prayers are with you all.

Emily,

I am not sure you remember me, but I am a good friend of Jenny Robertson. She shared your story and asked for all of our prayers. Please know that I am praying for Britton each and everyday. I love looking at your blogs for update and the amazing pictures. Stay strong and lean on Him.

Danny & Emily,
As we have been praying for you and interceding on Britton's behalf this past week many scriptures, songs and prayers have come to mind. Our God is an awesome God and has been so faithful in answering prayers of healing, encouragment and hope for you all. One old hymn that keeps coming to mind; There is power, power, wonder working power in the blood of the lamb. There is power, power, wonder working power in the precious blood of the lamb. Once again we stand in awe at the way God works and how actively He answers prayer. I was thinking the other day and wondering what an orchestration of prayer must sound like to the Lord. The prayer concert for Britton has come together from around the world and placed before the throne of God. How amazing is that!!! Your blogs have touched us all and your faith and strength have blessed us. We love you all and are praying for this precious baby boy.

We pray God's blessings on you all.
