Breaking News

Britton has a tooth!!! I guess I posted that last post about 30 minutes too soon. I was just sitting here feeding Britton a snack, and was trying to get a slippery chunk of banana back in his mouth when he chomped down on my finger, and it hurt! I looked in his mouth, and saw a little white tooth top sticking out of his bottom gum! I think I scared Britton by my reaction ... but what proud mama wouldn't jump around screaming "he has a tooth! he has a tooth!"? At almost 9 months old, it's about time. The appearance of his firth tooth sure explains why he cried all the way through his first big boy bath (in the tub) & fussed for nearly two hours straight last night. Pictures of the tooth (when it's big enough) to come!

Saturday Mornings

Here is Britton telling it like it is last Saturday morning ... still in his jammies!

"Standing is hard work!"

You can almost hear him squealing in this picture.

This is Britton's stunned reaction after Piper landed a few kisses on his face.

"Ooohh, what's this?"

Still teething. No teeth.

Britton's Novel Idea

Britton has been rolling over from back to belly and from belly to back for a good while now. But, finally, he put 2 and 2 together and -- what do you know -- the kid is going places!

I caught him doing laps around his room tonight:

Hotty Toddy

Britton as an Ole Miss fan on a typical gameday Saturday (we've had some bad seasons for those of you not in the loop).

Britton as an Ole Miss fan today! Rebels 31, Gators 30. Woohoo! (See his Ole Miss pacifier?)

Britton will have his first Ole Miss gameday experience next weekend when we will travel back to Oxford for Homecoming. We are so excited!

8 Month Pictures!

Here I am finally posting Britton's 8-month photo with his lion! You can click on the photo collage to see it bigger...

Britton at 1, 2, 3 & 4 months, and
5, 6, 7 & 8 months

Can you see how much bigger he is this month? He is getting to be quite a chunk. We had to go to the doctor for a sick visit this week and he was 16 lbs., 14 oz. He is a lot more active lately, but no crawling action yet. I'll post more about what he's doing on his 9-month birthday!

Busy Bee

Britton has become one busy boy lately. He is always playing with his toys, reaching for his toys, chewing on his toys, banging his toys together, talking to his toys, taking his toys out of the box, dumping his toys out on the floor, pulling on the quilt to get his toys closer to him, watching Piper run off with his toys ;o) ... the list goes on.

The Morning After

It finally happened, and as Britton's pediatrician said, "he did it in grand style." Britton got sick -- and not just a runny nose this time -- but fever, and pain, and grumpiness, and loss of appetite, and all that jazz. He started running his first ever fever the other night, so off to the doctor we went yesterday. His fever was in the 102s due to an ear infection and a viral throat infection. Both were moderate infections, but together made for lots of fever. His fever got up to 104 plus change last night, but armed with Tylenol and Motrin, we got it down, and he has maintained a normal temp w/o meds all morning. Here is a picture of the little (still groggy) patient this morning. I am hoping that we have turned a corner, though, and that he's on the mend.

Peek-A-Boo

I went in to check on Britton last night and saw these sweet feet peeking through the side of his crib.

Our Little Frog

Britton is growing up, and recently had his first "graduation". He advanced up to the Frogs class in our church nursery. Goodbye baby Lambs, hello Frogs. So, on his first day as a frog, he wore his cute froggie Sunday outfit. Here are lots of pictures because he was being such a ham that day!

Those cheeks!

What He Sounds Like

Here is a snippet of what Britton is sounding like lately. He makes several consonant sounds, and is now stringing his favorite sound, which is 'ga'. Everything is ah-ga or ga-ga, or just plain ga. I recorded this when he woke up from his nap the other day and was content to babble for a few minutes before realizing that the mama had not come to his rescue yet.

Is That My Dog?

We took our fluffy, white dog to the groomer the other day, and he came home looking like this. His hair was so long, you couldn't see his eyes ... at all. I think he might have lost a half pound from all the hair they took off. Tipping the scales at a mere 5 pounds, he looks like a big white, rat scooting around our house.

Britton loves to "play" with Piper. And Piper is very gentle when he's around Britton and has never (yet) retaliated despite all the skin pinching and hair pulling.

Love.

Every time anyone said "mama" last week, Britton would duck his head quickly and rest it on my shoulder. He is such a love.

Kisses

Here is Britton's newest trick. My mom said he is giving us kisses. We just thought he was trying to eat our noses!

Silly boy! I think Mom is right b/c lately he will come toward our faces with a big open mouth, minus those feeding frenzy moves. He was a little crabby when I took this video, but normally he "kisses" with lots of happy gusto.

The Difference a Year Makes

Britton ... a year ago today:

This little alien baby was such a sweet sight! It was our first good glimpse at Britton. If you check out the post I wrote back then, you'll see that Danny and I were divided on what we thought we were having. At the time, I thought we were having a boy, and he a girl.

And, here he is now:

Our chunky monkey son (he is getting so big these days)! This child is pure joy (as if you can't tell by the picture).

God has blessed us immeasurably.

Ike

The waves today were ferocious (the above pic was from another day). It was like high tide all day. At times, the water was all the way up to the road, and no speck of sand was visible. We are assuming it is because of Hurricane Ike making it's way over the Gulf. The weather was beautiful, though. Can't believe we've had such good weather all week. I have lots more beach pictures to post.
