Britton at 2 hours

Emily has been solely responsible for updating this blog from its conception, so bear with me for any layout issues.   We have all slept well this evening.  Our latest from Britton was very encouraging.  He has not had any seizures at all, which is very good since it is something they expected.   He began making urine which is the next biggest hurdle as it indicates good kidney function-its not much but its a start.  We love him so much already.  It hurts us both that we haven't been able to hold him yet.  He is so precious.  All the nurses that were with us at the surgery (and there were about 50 of them!) have dropped in to say this is surely a miracle because they had little confidence he would survive.  He's a fighter already!  Here's a video of him from 2 hours old.  I'll try to post more soon.

Emily and Danny,

Congratulations on Britton Daniel Giffen! I LOVE his name!!!Please know that I will be praying and calling my "prayer warriors" to pray also. Our granddaughter, Mikayla, came 6 weeks early, weighed 4lb 13oz and was in the NICU for 1 month. Lots of prayers were answered on her behalf....and I know our loving Father will answer all of the prayers on Britton's behalf.

I'll be looking forward to more updates and the video!

Em, Danny and Britton,

Okay, SOMEbody had to come early to the party and scare us half to death. Good one! I look forward to a lifetime of practical jokes from beautiful Britton -- the fact that he was born a boy is just another good one that we didn't predict. We have been praying night and day for all of you (as have our friends and family), allowing us to join in the fun of what it's like to have a newborn. Em, Danny: we love you both so much and already love Britton to pieces. You are in our thoughts and in our prayers and can't wait for you all to be healthy and home!

xoxo,
Brent and Em

Congratulations on your precious gift from God! I know of you from my dear friend, Mary-Dare. Your faith is amazing and it will see you thru this whirlwind of an adventure with your precious blessing, Britton. Just know that I along with my family and members from a mom's group thru my church are praying for your family! May God continue to bless each of you!
