Britton did great this morning! The ear tube procedure was quick, not sure it was painless, but it was quick. We got there at 5:45 this morning. They checked us in quickly and got us back to a room. They let us wheel Britton around the halls in a little wagon while we waited for them to take him back. When they came to get him, we walked him to the double doors where we handed him over to a nurse. She took him and walked him down to the OR, and he never looked back. We had just enough time to get back to the room, text our families, crack a book, get on the computer, before the doc came in to let us know the procedure was over and that Britton did great (literally this was 10 minutes after we left him). A few minutes after that, we could hear him crying in recovery. They quickly brought him to us. He was pretty fussy for awhile trying to wake up from the anesthesia. But, he took about 10 oz. from a bottle, which he hasn't done in days! At the most he has been taking 2 oz. at each feeding. So, hopefully, that was a sign of good things to come. We were back home in less than 2 hours, and Britton is currently sleeping the morning's events off in his very own crib. Hoping he wakes up and feels like a new man!
Pre-op ... fun times in the wagon!
Bitton ... that's a new one. Instead of Britton Giffen, maybe he'll get Bitton Griffen. That's hard to say.
When our son was very sick in the NICU, a friend monogrammed his initials on a blanket for us. As she stitched the letters B - G - D, she thought of the phrase "By God's Design" ... as surely our son's condition did not take Him by surprise. Even as our son came home and has continued to thrive, and as our family has recently grown by adoption, we rest in knowing that all of this has been By God's Design.

Britton is our little miracle boy! He came into this world on his way out of it. Born without a heartbeat, he joined the land of the living when he was nine minutes old. He has made an amazing recovery since, and is truly our beautiful, little miracle boy … our gift from God! He spends his days learning to be a sweet big brother and just generally being ALL BOY.
