Love you sweetie. Just wanted to say thank you for four wonderful years! And, thanks for putting up with my selfishness, craziness, poor leadership, and goofiness. You are the love of my life!
Getting into the gifts a bit prematurely on Christmas Eve!
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care. Notice Britton's on the far right. My mother carried on the family tradition of the grandmother needlepointing a stocking for her grandchild.
So not ready to go to bed on Christmas Eve! Did somebody tell this guy about Santa??
Christmas Morning
Pulling gifts out of his stocking.

Britton loves to clap when he's happy!
See his little name on his pjs? I bought these a long time ago, but thought they would NEVER fit him. I pulled them out in time for Christmas and they fit perfectly, and they're a 12-18mo. in size. The boy is growing!!!

Back at our house ... this tree was one of Britton's favorite things about this Christmas! He loved this little fiberoptic tree I put in his room. It will definitely make a return next December.
The Risk of Birth This is no time for a child to be born, With the earth betrayed by war and hate; And a nova lighting the sky to warn -- That time runs out and the sun burns late.
That was no time for a child to be born, In a land in the crushing grip of Rome; Honour and truth were trampled by scorn -- Yet here did the Saviour make his home.
When is the time for love to be born? The inn is full on planet earth; And by greed and pride the sky is torn -- Yet Love still takes the risk of birth.
We gladly hosted an impromptu Giffen Christmas this weekend after Danny's parents got a great deal on a flight east. Danny's brother Ryan, his wife, Danica, & their son Will joined us and we all had fun opening gifts with the boys and sharing in their exuberance over Round 1 of Christmas.

This video hardly does justice to Britton's animated excitement over opening gifts, but it's the closest thing we've got:
It's so fun having a baby celebrate his first Christmas when he can really be a part of what is going on. I am excited about Christmas morning!
Great Grandpa Charles (Danny's grandfather) brought Britton and Will a little holiday cheer with these Santa Claus outfits. Britton loved flying in the air looking for Donner and Blitzen!
When our son was very sick in the NICU, a friend monogrammed his initials on a blanket for us. As she stitched the letters B - G - D, she thought of the phrase "By God's Design" ... as surely our son's condition did not take Him by surprise. Even as our son came home and has continued to thrive, and as our family has recently grown by adoption, we rest in knowing that all of this has been By God's Design.
Britton
Britton is our little miracle boy! He came into this world on his way out of it. Born without a heartbeat, he joined the land of the living when he was nine minutes old. He has made an amazing recovery since, and is truly our beautiful, little miracle boy … our gift from God! He spends his days learning to be a sweet big brother and just generally being ALL BOY. To catch the beginning of his story, click on his picture.
Lia Katherine
Lia Kate is our precious chosen child! She was adopted from China over Christmas '09 and we are loving life with her. She is our girly girl with a particular affection for all things shoes, dresses and baby dolls. She is full of joy and laughter and our lives are richly blessed with her in it. Click her picture to read her adoption story from the beginning.
Caroline Collins
Collins is our sweet 7-month-old in China! We can't wait to bring her home. Maybe another Christmas in China?
