Test Results

We finally have some more information on Britton's 2nd round of neurological tests. I guess the previous post was a bit premature, as today's news is not what we hoped for. We actually didn't speak to the neurologist personally, but did speak to the nurse practitioner who consulted with him.

The EEG came back showing some minor abnormalities. It also showed that the brain is still recovering from the initial trauma it experienced at birth (a good thing, we think). The other good news is that it did not show evidence of any seizure activity or swelling.

The MRI report was mixed as well. The radiology report said that the most recent MRI pictures were unchanged from the previous MRI (a week ago). However, Britton's neurologist read the MRI differently. He saw some ischemic areas in the brain, and said that the brain tissue is continuing to "evolve." He has scheduled another MRI for a week from now. The next MRI could show a normal brain (as our last one did), it could show that the ischemic areas are stable (pictures remain the same), or the ischemic areas could get worse.

We were told to weigh this news with the fact that clinically he is doing well and showing improvement nearly every day (feeding, alertness, muscle tone, kidney #'s, etc). I guess that's what is so difficult--he is making huge strides every time we see him. We know God has formed Britton just for us, and He will equip us through His grace to be his parents and to handle whatever challenges may come.

Here's some Britton cuteness ... I think this guy must get the hiccups 10 times a day:

"This side of heaven, we will never logically resolve the tension between human responsibility and divine provision in sanctification. But as we learn to acknowledge that God must provide what we need to please him, the result will be our full dependence upon his grace." Bryan Chapell

We love you and will continue to pray for Britton! Judah can't wait to meet his new friend (if he stopped crying for two seconds that is what I am sure he would say :-))
