You heard it (well, sorta) ... Britton has finally reached the 7 pound mark! We look at him lately and think he is so big ... until we see a big 9 pounder, and we realize he has a looong way to go.
Britton's nurse today hasn't had him since his first week, so she has been surprised today at how much this guy can eat. At his morning feeding, he took 6 ounces! Yes, he was a little piglet today. She didn't give him that much at first, but when he wouldn't stop crying and rooting, she offered him another bottle and he gulped it down. Maybe he is going through a growth spurt.
We were there today when the doctor rounded, and he is ordering a few tests to rule out potential causes of Britton's d-sats. He is going to have an EKG, Echo, and Upper GI. The EKG and Echo will rule out heart issues and the Upper GI will rule out reflux. More than likely, the reason for his d-sats are neurological and/or airway issues, but we feel good knowing that we're ruling out other potential causes. Britton had an EEG two days ago after the d-sat episodes to see if he might be having seizures. Again, the results (this is his 4th EEG now) showed no seizure activity. We are happy about that.
We are going to be at the hospital for awhile longer. Britton is still on the nasal cannula, and may be for another week. Not until he gets off of it can we start the 7-day countdown to come home. We are praying to find answers for his d-sats, and more importantly that he will stop d-sat'ing altogether.

You guys are so strong. I can only imagine how exhausting and frustrating this can be at times. But then I look at your beautiful boy and imagine how much joy you must feel every minute you are with him. Britton is always in our prayers -- and you both are as well.
We love you all so very much,
Brent and Em

You are doing great, Danny and Emily-- we are so proud of the both of you. We are standing in agreement with you for these ox. levels to be high and consistent. God knows what needs to be done, and we're trusting Him to do it. Ps.34:15, "The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry." II Chron. 16:9, "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in behalf of them whose heart is perfect(at peace with complete trust)toward Him." The Lord knows that you are putting your complete trust in Him for Britton's complete health. He knows that you acknowledge that only He can complete Britton's healing. He has already shown Himself "strong" on Britton's behalf ,and always completes what He starts as we continue to pray and keep trusting Him. I know you know these things, but just wanted to encourage you again today. You'll take your precious little boy home soon when God gets all He desires out of this situation which He is using for "good". Love you all so much, Sue and Scott
